Rochdale are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Niall Canavan in the three nil victory over Southend United at the weekend at Spotland Stadium was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Canavan was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Canavan played his part for Rochdale who continued their fine run of form with a comfortable 3-0 win over Southend United. The centre-back’s powerful header put Dale a goal up, and he made sure there was no way back as the club notched a fifth successive win and a third successive clean sheet.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Canavan for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Jak Alnwick (Port Vale), Niall Canavan (Rochdale), Sonny Bradley (Plymouth Argyle), Christian Burgess (Portsmouth), Matty Blair (Doncaster Rovers), Nicky Law (Bradford City), Jake Reeves (Wimbledon), Jason Kennedy (Carlisle United), Ryan Flynn (Oldham Athletic), Matt Green (Mansfield Town), Tom Nichols (Peterborough United).

Manager – Neal Ardley (Wimbledon).
