It seems that Dale trialist Simon Heslop has been deemed surplus to requirements at Dale and will instead join Port Vale.

Heslop had been on trial with the club and was part of the squad that made the trip over to Spain. Heslop appeared in both our games in Spain against Peterborough and Marbella and had seemed to impress but questions have been raised as to whether we needed another midfielder.

Clearly HillCroft didn’t think the player warranted a contract at the club and the player now looks bound for Vale along with former Dale loanee Louis Dodds.

Vale boss Lee Sinnott said:

‘Both Louis Dodds and Simon Heslop have agreed terms and now it is a matter of what happens between the clubs concerned.

Obviously we will have to come to an agreement with Leicester City about Louis and do the same with Barnsley over Simon and then it would be down to the medicals’.
