Manager Keith Hill has said he was delighted with our narrow victory over Exeter City yesterday.

Jamie Allen scored the only goal of the game in the dying seconds of the first half and it proved to be enough to take all three points for Hill.

Speaking to the press following the game, the gaffer explained.

‘I have been delighted for a long time, it was very good. Two good sides who play football in the right manner, and trying to develop players while trying to be successful on the pitch. We are really enjoying our football and enjoying days like this. The players were prepared to go through a big wall in pursuit of that result and they were excellent.’

Hill goes on to say that if he’s honest at half time the score really could’ve been three one in our favour, and although Exeter definitely improved in the second half and ‘laid siege’ to our penalty box, at that points he was delighted with how resolute our defending was and how the counter attack almost worked in our favour at the other end.

The gaffer also joked that he doesn’t look at the league table as he’s not interested in adding any pressure onto the players, but ultimately as he joked to one of the directors before the game, he’s not sure pressure would tell anyway as we’ve spent 98 years of our 104 year history in league two so we should be old hat when it comes to the pressures of the division.
