Manager Keith Hill was left fuming following the referee’s decision to award Fleetwood a penalty in our last game.

The early penalty in the game gave Fleetwood the momentum and the lead, and although we battled back to go in on level terms at half time or our efforts were in vain as they secured the winner inside the final ten minutes.

Speaking to Sky Sports following the game, the gaffer fumed.

‘It wasn’t a penalty and it’s not a question of whether the referee has made an honest decision because honesty doesn’t pay dividends for me. We’ve watching it again and again and again and it’s not a penalty.’

Hill goes on to decry that it was such a poor decision and it has had a huge impact on the game because our game plan had to change accordingly to not go on and take the lead ourselves, but simply claw our way back into it first.

The conditions on the day are obviously referenced, but Hill knows that was the same for both teams and unfortunately in that weather fans are never going to be treated to a fantastic spectacle of football but it’s the manner of the defeat for him that irks as he really doesn’t believe we deserved the loss, even though he concedes we didn’t really deserve the win either. A share of the points would’ve been fair for him.

Hill’s back is obviously up also because a refereeing decision had him spluttering in our last game, so two in a row were always likely to lead to a bit of a frustration led explosion.
