Manager Keith Hill has said he was delighted to see Rochdale return to winning ways with a three nil victory on Boxing Day.

Speaking to the Official Site following the match, the gaffer explained that especially over the festive period you just simply have to trust the players when it comes to the personal preparation they do in readiness for the Boxing Day encounter.

Over indulgence is an easy thing to get carried away with, but although some performances could’ve been improved and some results could’ve certainly been better, Hill doesn’t believe that they have let him down all season so far really so he didn’t have any major concerns that anybody would return having suffered a Christmas issue.

‘We had two superb training sessions on Monday and Tuesday and having the weekend off (Southend match on Friday) was brilliant. It re-energised us mentally and physically and the players were excellent.’

Especially with games coming thick and fast and the Christmas period Hill goes on to credit them for showing ‘great energy and a lot of enthusiasm’ during the 90 minutes because he thought it was a very professional display from them.

Willing three nil and obviously keeping the clean sheet was a bonus, but Hill added he was delighted with all the goals, and although he feels we could’ve scored a few more, he’s not going to be greedy at this time of year either so he’s more than satisfied with the final score.

It hasn’t been a bad half a season either for Hill who in another interview goes on to talk about the fact that a year ago we had only won four home games, and we are currently on eight which was last season’s total, so the improvement is palpable and he feels we are right on point still.
