Dale manager Keith Hill has revealed his pride at seeing Joe Thompson scoop the League Two Apprentice of the Year award. Thompson has made his debut as a substitute on the last day of last season and has gone on to make steady progress with eight appearances for Dale this term.

Despite his success, Hill doesn’t expect the promising midfielder to get carried away with the honour.

Hill said, ‘He’s a level headed young man with a professional attitude to everything he does both on and off the field.

‘I’m over the moon for him because he’s seen his hard work rewared. He was given an opportunity by us and he took that opportunity with both hands and has done everything asked of him.’

The potential of the midfielder is there for all to see especially manager Keith Hill and assistant manager David Flitcroft. However as he has only just turned 18, much more work has to be done for his potential to become a realisation. We all look forward to seeing him more often in a Dale shirt in the near future.

On that note, Rochdale VitalFootball give our congratulations to Joe Thompson and Rochdale AFC.
