Manager Keith Hill has said that Rochdale stepped up an extra gear in our game against Exeter yesterday.

Rochdale took the lead in the game thanks to a goal from Michael Rose, but Exeter did bring themselves level not long after. Ultimately we managed to make the second half count and further goals from Graham Cummins and Andrew Tutte saw us end the game with all three points.

Speaking to the press following the match, Hill was very complimentary about the game and how Exeter approached things, but on balance he thought we were deserved winners.

‘I thought it was a very technical game for League Two and both teams tried to play the right way. It was one of those games where we had to accept that Exeter were going to have a fair mount of possession – we are possession based and so are Exeter – there are not many in the league.’

Adding so obviously it was going to be a tough game and at points we had to be very patient and stick to the game plan knowing that we would have our chance on the ball as well, so it was a matter of making sure when we were in possession we did the right things during that spell and defended solidly when it was their turn.

‘It was very difficult, there were a lot of wrestles going on, but we did win our fair share so I do believe we deserved to win.’

Rochdale return to back to back wins now and the win leaves us in third place in the league and well placed as we head into December, so hopefully we can continue that in mid week and take another three points from the encounter at Spotland against Scunthorpe on Tuesday.
