Manager Keith Hill was utterly delighted following our FA Cup victory over Rotherham.

Rochdale secured progression through the third round of the competition thanks to a two one victory where we came from behind to secure the win thanks to goals from Lund and Vincenti.

Speaking to the Official Site following the match, the gaffer was obviously beaming, but he did admit that he had frustrations at the half time break because he thought we looked jaded, but whatever words were had certainly worked and he couldn’t have been more pleased with how we responded in the second 45.

‘Second half, wow, it was more like us. You ask the players to respond and they did, were on the front foot and it’s about bravery and I think we showed that.’

Hill goes on to say that we overcame a very good side in Rotherham because not only do they work extremely hard off the ball, but they are good in possession as well and are more than capable of causing teams problems so for us to reach this stage he couldn’t be more happy.

‘I’m pleased we’ve progressed to the next round, it means so much for a club like ourselves. I think it’s nine years since we were previously there, so from that perspective there’s a little bit of prize money in the bank. Hopefully we can get a good game in the next round, but ultimately as a player and manager you do want to progress in the competition.’

Hill goes on to say that he hopes we get a little bit of luck in the next round draw because like he’s talked about previously, he would love to host a big club at Spotland and really enjoy some of the magic of the FA Cup or alternatively get a draw away from home at a stadium like Old Trafford to really make some memories.

I suppose in some ways we may have got a bit of the best of both worlds in the draw there, as we have been drawn at Spotland against Leeds United.

The game will be played in the weekend beginning January 4th, 2014.
