Keith Hill has earlier tonight added Gary Dicker to our squad.

The 27 year old midfielder has signed on an initial five month deal following his release by Brighton and Hove Albion over the summer.

The deal is still subject to league approval but it’s not expected that there will be any problems.

Speaking to the Official Site Dicker admits that the perception is often that footballers have been waiting for ‘something’ when it takes them so long to secure a new deal following release, but he promises that wasn’t the case as the clubs he was talking to, the deals just didn’t come off.

‘I spoke to Keith Hill and thought about the move for a bit. I spoke to a few players who have played under him and they all think highly of him so I think it’ll be a good move for both of us.’

Dicker says he has fond memories of competing against Rochdale before and they have always been a tough outfit, so he knows what he’s walking into and he’s hoping that he can play a good part in our league campaign this season now and hopefully earn himself an extended deal.

Dicker has been handed the No 38 shirt but there’s no confirmation of whether he’ll go straight into the squad for the weekend’s game, but it’s probably more likely that he’ll have a week or two of training to get fully up to speed before making his debut.

The Dublin born player has so far made 185 league starts in his career, with a further 36 appearances coming from the bench. In that time he has found the net 7 times having made his debut for Stockport, prior to his move to Brighton.
