Rochdale have confirmed that Tom Kennedy has now penned a new deal at Spotland.

The 29 year old’s original contract expired last month, and he has now put pen to paper on fresh terms keeping him with us until the end of the current season.

Having returned to training following his loan spell with Blackpool, the player is now again fully in contention for first team affairs.

Keith Hill said briefly of the deal.

‘I need that little bit of experience. It’s trying to strike the balance between being defensively sound and offensively productive because offensively we’re very productive.’

Kennedy himself told the Official Site that it had been a strange season with two loan spells and his deal expiring, but he jumped at the chance to remain at the club when he knew it was on the cards.

‘It has been a strange season to say the least so I’m happy to be around familiar faces. I’ve got a great affiliation with the club and the manager and there’s also a great set of players and fans here. It’s great to have signed to be honest.’

Kennedy goes on to say that he has been training with the boys since last month so he’s been able to keep his fitness high, so when Hill approached over a new deal he grabbed it.
