Rochdale’s League 1 season continued with a win against Scunthorpe at Spotland on Saturday.

There was an element of fortune involved, as Van Veen had already hit the crossbar, when Bunney (67) put Rochdale ahead at the midway point of the second half.

Scunthorpe drew level through Wallace (76) but Rochdale still won it late on through Vincenti (85) to move up to fifth in the table.

The other results this weekend were as follows:-

Sat 19th September 2015

Blackpool 1-1 Barnsley
Bury 1-0 Port Vale
Colchester 2-1 Gillingham
Coventry 1-0 Chesterfield
Doncaster 1-1 Oldham
Millwall 0-2 Southend
Peterborough 1-1 Walsall
Rochdale 2-1 Scunthorpe
Shrewsbury 0-1 Crewe
Swindon 0-1 Burton
Wigan 2-1 Fleetwood

Sun 20th September 2015
Bradford 2-2 Sheff Utd

Looking at these results the stand out ones have to be the wins for Colchester, Crewe and Burton.

Colchester, who hadn’t won in League 1 prior to a win at Sheffield United on Tuesday, followed up that three-two win with a two-one win at the Weston Homes Community Stadium against a Gillingham side that, going into this game, hasn’t lost in the league and were top of the table!

Against a Shrewsbury side, that had started to find some form, Crewe collected all three-points in a one-nil win at Greenhous Meadow to end the Shrews’ run and also move the Alex off the bottom of League 1.

Depending on what way you look at it Burton’s win at Swindon was possibly the result of the weekend? The Brewers beating Swindon one-nil, as the did at the County Ground, was a good result in itself with this win taking last season’s League 2 Champions to the summit in League 1 for the first time in their history!

Rochdale are back in action with a game against Millwall at the Den on Saturday.
