Goalkeeper Josh Lillis has said he was delighted to extend his stay at Spotland for another two seasons, and he’s relishing the challenge we face in 2014-15.

The 26 year old missed only one match last season as we secured automatic promotion and speaking to the Official Site he looked back very fondly at 2013-14.

‘I had a great season with all the lads and as soon as the season finished, although I knew I was out of contract, I was looking forward to the new season straight away. I just felt like I was going to be here next season, so it didn’t take long to it signed up.’

Lillis goes on to say he joined the club in the first place to play as often as he could and continue to develop as a player, so last season having played 46 games, and only missing one match this season was a delight for him.

‘I needed to play games and to miss just one in two seasons proves it was the right decision. To come here, be an established number one and get promotion, especially with my family coming here every week, was really enjoyable.’

With goalkeeping coach Steve Collis also signing a new two year deal with us, Lillis says that was a big boost as well when he knew he’d be committing for the future, because he’s enjoyed working with him on the training pitch and he believes he’s definitely been good for his game and development so he’s delighted that can continue in League One now.
