Goalkeeper Josh Lillis has today penned a new two year deal with Rochdale, meaning he now won’t be departing the club in the summer when his contract was set to expire.

The 26 year old played in all but one of our competitive games this season, as he missed the league encounter at Spotland against Bristol Rovers through an illness, but he did keep 21 clean sheet across the season and played a key part in our promotion success.

Speaking to the Official Site assistant manager Chris Beech talked of his delight at having his immediate future now tied to the club.

‘His contract offer is deserved in terms of what he has done for the club. He was tremendous this season and was a massive cog in the wheel, helping us gain promotion. What’s impressed me and Keith has been the way he has distributed the ball. Josh has developed a vision, which is benefitting the team as a whole.’

Beech goes on to say that he’s got better as the season has progressed and the club couldn’t be more pleased to see him sign on for the next two seasons.
