Two goals from Rhys Bennett and Callum Camps saw us come out as winners in Tuesday evenings game against Macclesfield Town.

Following three tough games against higher opposition in the shape of Wigan, Bolton and Middlesbrough, Macclesfield were going to provide a different test for us as we continue our preparations towards the coming League One season but Rochdale got the two goals in the space of five minutes during the first half to give us something to build and hold on to.

Manager Keith Hill also took the opportunity to play two trialists from the start as he continues looking at squad strength and depth – David Fox and Adam Morgan.

They were joined by Josh Lillis, Rhys Bennett, Ashley Eastham, Sean McGinty, Michael Rose, Peter Vincenti, Andy Cannon, Callum Camps and Joel Logan.

Bennett opened the scoring after 24 minutes, and then Camps added to that a minute before the half hour mark and that was how the goal count stayed until full time.

Hill made one change at the break, introducing another trialist in the shape of Nuha Jabbie who replaced Camps. On 71 minutes the gaffer then made another change and Cannon was replaced by Brian Barry-Murphy.
