Sean McGinty has gone out for a loan spell, and striker Calvin Andrew has been sidelined for five weeks.

Both these pieces of news were announced by Rochdale ahead of our weekend’s victory over Chesterfield.

21 year old McGinty heads to Conference based side Aldershot and he’s joined the initially for a month. This will be his second spell away from the club for first team experience this season, following an earlier spell with Halifax Town which also lasted four weeks.

As for experienced striker Andrew, he sustained an injury in the game against Peterborough United and following the obligatory scans, it has been revealed that he will be sidelined for the next five weeks or so as he gets back to fitness.

With news of this, manager Keith Hill said that it was a fantastic opportunity for second year scholar Nyal Bell and whilst it was thought that maybe he would be debuting last weekend, he took up a place on the bench and will no doubt get his chance over the coming month to impress and aide his own developing with a taste of first team action.
