Manager Keith Hill has continued his plans for next season, and the club have announced we have today signed defender Sean McGinty to a 12 month deal.

The player spent six weeks with us at the end of last season, and his new deal kicks in in July. The 20 year old joins us on a free transfer having been informed that Sheffield United were going to release him when his deal at Bramall Lane expired.

Assistant manager Chris Beech told the Official Site that whilst he appreciates fans didn’t get much chance to see McGinty during his time on loan with us last season, he was impressive in training and caught their eyes, which wasn’t unexpected given he came through Manchester United’s youth levels.

‘He impressed us in the way that he went about his training, in how he went about supporting the squad on matchdays, whether he was getting changed or not. He’s got a very good left foot, he’s of good stature, good size, and still got lots of potential, so it fits us.’

Beech goes on to say that now he and Hill are looking forward to seeing how he develops with us over the next 12 months and how he approaches pre season training, and they fully expect to see him build on how he approached things whilst on loan.
