Rochdale and forward George Donnelly have reached an agreement on the option that would extend his stay for a further 12 months.

When Donnelly moved to the club back in 2012, he signed a two year deal with a further 12 month option in place subject to conditions.

Those conditions were that he would have to play a certain number of games last season, and having exceeded that number and wanting to stay, with manager Keith Hill also wanting him to remain – the deal has been done for the 25 year old.

Speaking to the Official Site assistant manager Chris Beech explained.

‘George has been an integral part of the success that we’ve had this season. His power, pace and his presence puts the fear into any opposition that we play against. He has met that requirement of his option and he deserves an extra year for his hard work.’

Beech goes on to say that knowing his strengths as listed above, the club were keen to keep him anyway for our League One campaign, so with this agreement now reached, everybody is delighted with the outcome.
