Rochdale v Wycombe

It seems a long time since Keith Hill’s men left the pitch after the 1-1 draw with Bury last weekend. Since then the talk has been mainly centred around a spat Hilly had with a fan behind him and his after match comments to the press. I’m not going to go ito the rights and wrongs of all that now as it’s been discussed to death, but hopefully it won’t have effected the team any.

Wycombe will be a good test for us this afternoon and they are unbeaten in the league having won three of their four games. They have tasted a defeat in the League Cup getting slapped, as they did, 0-4 at home to Championship high-flyers Birmingham.

Just a few games into the season and it seems picking our strongest team is not as simple as it might have been. Certainly the right hand side of midfield has been a problem area with Toner, Higgy and Buckley all being tried out there. Buckley’s last half hour against Bury was strong but before that he definately struggled. Hilly must decide whether he’s worthy of another crack at it against Wycombe today.

We haven’t been on fire in the striking department either and our striking pair this afternoon is anyone’s guess. For me I think ALF did enough last weekend to warrant a starting place and then it’s between Shaw and Daggers for the other spot. We’ll wait and see.

Wycombe will be, like ourselves, looking to improve on their play-off finish last season and they are placing their hopes in Peter ‘Former England Boss’ Taylor. Either way Hilly seems to think they’re going to come and try and hit us on the break so patience is called for, good luck with that Hilly!
