He may have been axed by the club, but Steve Eyre has nothing but good things to say about Rochdale.

Speaking to Sky Sports the former manager revealed his affinity for the club has not been tarnished:

“It was an absolute privilege, I loved my time with the club, the players, the members of staff and the fans; it was an honour to be part of that.”

The ex Man City youth coach understands the reasons for his dismissal.

“I genuinely believed we were doing the right things, we played well almost week in, week out, and we certainly did not get the results our play deserved – but it is all very well getting credit for your performance, but points are what counts.”

Always easy to speak to, the affable coach has left the club with his dignity very much intact.

“I do wish everyone at Rochdale all the best for the future, but now I have to concentrate on myself and see what the future holds. We will have to see what the future holds, but as I said I am as ambitious as ever.”

We here at Vital Rochdale wish Steve Eyre all the best in his future.
