Perkins Leaves

The news we’d all been expecting and dreading arrived this evening as David Perkins left the club and signed for Col U.

The club has confirmed there was a release clause and defended this as they felt it would stop them losing him for nothing should he not sign at the end of his previous contract. The club have also said they were confident Perks would have re-signed had we been promoted at Wembley.

Perks leaves for a six-figure sum thought to be between £100-150k. It seems a small fee for a player we saved from the abyss of non-league football. Dale supporters will be hoping for some transfer activity into the club in the upcoming weeks to justify this sale and the increased admission charges for next season.

The increased admission charges, meaning you can now pay the best part of £20 to watch Dale, were designed to help HillCroft strengthen the squad. So far we have spent a rumoured £30k on bringing Jon Shaw to the club. Selling one of your best players is not the best way to appease already disgruntled supporters.

StevieG, you are lucky to have him. Had hoped he would join us a Stockport. A big loss to Dale but the cash will no doubt be put to good use.
