Rochdale will be rueing the chances that got away at Spotland on Saturday afternoon as missed chances meant that a draw had to be settled for in the end.

Enough chances came our way, in the first half alone, for the game against Gillingham to have been sown up but a failure to take them, and the visitors taking theirs, resulted in a 1-1 draw.

Peter Vincenti (25) headed us into the lead in the first half, but chances missed prior to this and after it, proved very costly.

Stephen Bywater came back to haunt us, having previously played for us of course, as he saved twice from dangerous Michael Rose efforts. Vincenti and Ian Henderson were also close to getting onto the end of further efforts, which came from dead balls from Rose.

Despite the dominance Cody McDonald would have drawn Gillingham level before the break but Conrad Logan produced a good save to make sure we went into the break one-up.

Dale continued to have the better of the game in the second end but again we couldn’t add to the goal and McDonald (83) ended a goalmouth scramble to make it one-one with less than 10-minutes to play, and make us pay!

Scott Tanser almost won it for us late on but the game ended in a draw, which Gillingham would be far happier with than us
